What happened
On 31 August 2019, Timothy was stabbed to death at the Laurent-Bonnevay metro station in Villeurbanne, near Lyon, by a man who attacked passers-by at random; eight other people were injured. In March 2022 the Lyon Court of Appeal declared the attacker criminally irresponsible because of schizophrenia and ordered his compulsory psychiatric hospitalisation. There was no criminal trial.
