Sébastien Bélanger
Died 3 June 2017
Who they were
Sébastien came from Angers in western France and had lived in London for seven years, where he was head chef at the Coq d'Argent restaurant. "I am so very proud of him," his mother said. "He worked very hard but also liked partying with his friends." His brother remembered "your kindness, your smile, your mischievous look, your generosity".
What happened
He had been watching the Champions League final with friends at a pub in Borough Market. On the evening of Saturday 3 June 2017, three men drove a van into pedestrians on London Bridge and then attacked people with knives around Borough Market. Eight people were killed and many injured. Police shot the attackers within ten minutes, so there was no trial; inquests in 2019 found the victims had been unlawfully killed.
