Sascha was a first responder at the attack on the Breitscheidplatz Christmas market.
What happened
Sascha was seriously injured when a hijacked lorry was driven into the Breitscheidplatz Christmas market on 19 December 2016. He died on 5 October 2021 from the long-term effects of his injuries and was recognised as the attack's 13th victim; his name was added to the memorial in December 2021. The attacker was shot dead by Italian police four days after the attack, so there was no trial.

Status: No trial
Perpetrator: A 24-year-old Tunisian whose asylum application in Germany had been rejected (deportation stalled for lack of papers). Identified by the Federal Prosecutor (fingerprints, ID in cab); shot dead by Italian police in Sesto San Giovanni on 23 Dec 2016.
