Who they were
Rhiannon was from Walsall and the mother of a five-year-old son. She worked at the Park Inn hotel near Bescot, cleaning and handing out food. Her family described her as "smart, kind, funny, thoughtful, caring and hardworking" – "a piece of all of us, and the best of us". Her sister, who is now raising the boy, quoted Rhiannon's favourite character, Stitch: "Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten."
What happened
On the evening of Sunday 20 October 2024, Rhiannon was waiting for her train home after her shift at Bescot Stadium station when she was attacked by a man who had followed her from the hotel. She died in hospital three days later. In October 2025 a jury found the attacker guilty of murder, and in January 2026 he was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 29 years.

Perpetrator: A Sudanese national, an asylum seeker who arrived by small boat about three months earlier and was housed at the hotel where she worked (BBC).
