What happened
On 29 January 2018 Pamela left a drug-treatment centre near Macerata. Two days later police found her dismembered body in two suitcases. A Nigerian migrant who had arrived in Italy in 2014 and dropped out of a refugee programme was convicted of rape, murder and concealing a corpse. The Corte d'Assise in Macerata sentenced him to life imprisonment in May 2019; the appeal upheld it in October 2020, and the Corte di Cassazione has repeatedly confirmed the sentence, most recently in January 2025.
