Łukasz Urban
Died 19 December 2016
Who they were
Łukasz was a lorry driver from the village of Roznowo near Banie in western Poland who drove for his cousin's haulage firm. His manager described him as "a good, quiet and honest person" devoted to his work. He left a wife and a 17-year-old son. Thousands, including Poland's president, said farewell to him in Banie, where a roundabout now bears his name.
What happened
On Monday 19 December 2016, Łukasz was killed in the cab of his own lorry in Berlin, which the attacker hijacked and drove into the Christmas market on Breitscheidplatz. In total, 13 people died as a result of the attack. The attacker was shot dead by Italian police four days later, so there was no trial.
