Leonie was 13 and came from Tulln in Lower Austria.
What happened
In the early hours of 26 June 2021, Leonie was drugged and raped in a flat in Vienna-Donaustadt by three young Afghan men; she died of poisoning and suffocation. In December 2022 a Vienna jury convicted all three: one received life imprisonment for murder and rape, the other two 20 and 19 years for murder by omission and rape. The Supreme Court made the verdicts final on 31 May 2023.
