Leo was eight years old.
What happened
On 29 July 2019, Leo and his mother were pushed in front of an arriving ICE train at Frankfurt central station. His mother managed to save herself; Leo was killed. The attacker also tried to push an elderly woman. In 2020 the Frankfurt Regional Court found that he had committed murder and attempted murder but was not criminally responsible because of paranoid schizophrenia, and ordered his indefinite placement in a secure psychiatric hospital.
