Ghazala was 18 and Danish-Pakistani. She had married without her family's permission.
What happened
On 23 September 2005, Ghazala was shot dead by her older brother at the station square in Slagelse; her husband was wounded. Her father had ordered the killing. Nine people were convicted of taking part – the first time so many had been convicted collectively in an honour-killing case. Her father received life imprisonment and her brother 16 years; the Supreme Court upheld the sentences in 2007.
