Desirée was 16 and lived in Cisterna di Latina in Lazio.
What happened
On 18–19 October 2018 Desirée was found dead in an abandoned building in Rome's San Lorenzo district. She had been drugged and sexually assaulted; forensic examiners found she died from a lethal drug mix while the assaults continued. Four African migrants — two Senegalese, one Nigerian and one Ghanaian, several without legal residence — were convicted. In October 2024 the Corte di Cassazione made the final sentences definitive: life for one, and 26, 22 and 18 years for the others.
