A Car Hit a Mashhad Crowd. Four Died. Police Called It a Seizure

Reuters, overnight into 2 September, writes that a car struck a gathering of supporters of Iran’s government and armed forces, killing four and injuring more than ten. There was no immediate indication of a political motive. Authorities described it as a traffic accident.

Razavi Khorasan traffic police chief Mohsen Mousa-Abadi, via Noor News, said a vehicle travelling at high speed first hit another car, lost control, hit barriers and signs, then went into the crowd. Initial checks showed the driver, who was arrested, was not in a normal state. Colonel Davood Shakibaei, head of urban traffic police, later said the driver of a Hyundai Genesis, aged 35, had a history of seizures, a medical restriction on his licence, and that the crash on Vakil-Abad Boulevard around midnight killed two women, a man and a nine-year-old child, and injured eleven. He said it was not intentional or a security incident. The wife and the driver, he said, confirmed the illness.

The post said attack. The police said seizure. Four bodies are not a metaphor. The file, in the official mouth, is a medical history on a highway, not a charge sheet for terror. I do not promote one into the other.
