A big Ifop survey for Marianne finds 46 percent of Muslims in France would consider emigrating if Marine Le Pen wins next year’s presidential election. One in five French people overall say the same.

The poll, carried out for the weekly Marianne among 9,689 people and published on 14 October, measures how religious visibility and discrimination are straining French society months before the 2027 presidential vote. Its headline number: 46 percent of Muslim respondents would consider leaving France under a Le Pen presidency.

Across the whole sample, 21 percent of French people say they would consider going into exile if the Rassemblement National wins. Among civil servants, 45 percent say they would be ready to disobey laws they consider unjust — a figure that rises to 77 percent among voters of Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

L'arrivée au pouvoir de la candidate donnée favorite par les sondages risque de susciter des blocages importants et génère des niveaux élevés de craintes et de sentiment d'insécurité.

“The arrival in power of the candidate the polls call the favourite risks causing major blockages and generates high levels of fear and insecurity.”

Threat or promise?

Ifop’s deputy director warns of “major blockages” if Le Pen takes power. On the right, many read the same figure differently: critics on X greeted it as a selling point rather than a warning. Le Pen is the favourite in current polling for 2027.
